Could anyone help me with a scene? It is a job interview scene, where I want to show both the interviewer and the candidate face switch. Like when the interviewer is asking questions the camera would zoom them and in the same scene the candidate would be sitting rear i.e their rear part would show and same when the candidate is speaking the interviewer’s rear would show.
I have seen this in multiple episode stories and would like to do the same. Do we need two backgrounds? Could someone please help me with this?
Sometimes two backgrounds are needed if you’re in a specific place such as a classroom. This is one way to do it.
Take this for example:
One character is rear, and the other is far (facing us) and of course, you can adjust this any way you like. One person is seated, the other is standing
But another way where you could only use one background are these for example, where you could give off the illusion of two separate backgrounds, but all you’ll do is change zones for a different perspective:
I would say since the characters will be so zoomed in the screen the background definitely wont be the focal point
But using two backgrounds is simple. All you have to do is code the first POV and the second POV, and then just copy and paste that code every time you switch back and forth.
Another thing you should note is layering. The character that is rear must be at a higher layer than the character that isn’t rear. Say the rear character is layer 10 and the other is layer 5.
Here’s some code so that you get an idea of how I did the two POVs
Okay! Thank you so much, this really helps.
One other thing, I have only created one scene with just one background and two zones so far so this type of coding is very new to me. When we use two backgrounds and do this to and fro from two or more POVs, I would need to jump from one background scene to another i.e I have to copy paste the background each time the POVs change?
Yup! If you’re using two backgrounds, you’ll have to copy the background name you’re using every time when you’re going back and forth.
If you’re only using one background and going from zone to zone, you’ll have to copy and paste &cut to zone … … every time you are changing zones back and forth.
Summary
(if you’re still new to using this symbol!):
Using the & instead of @ will make changing from background to background or zone to zone more seamless. Using @ makes it so that each line with @ will go one after the other. It takes a bit long! & makes sure all commands are done at the same time. For example, when spot directing people.
Ohh… You are such a sweetheart. I have been a bit overwhelmed with coding and finding/editing the backgrounds. I will try to code the way you explained.
Aww no worries. It’s a bit overwhelming at first but if you take it step by step, you’ll be able to do it If you need help on this feel free to message me, I’m also coding my own story right now
Also with backgrounds, there are a lot of helpful threads/drives!!
I mainly go to FlowerGriefer’s thread, Marysol’s, and amepisode (they have a lot!! also make sure to read the rules)
