How to Contour a character using Pixlr, Photopea, or really anything else online!

Hello! I noticed many people wondering how to edit characters, so I decided to make a tutorial.
There are many ways to contour, but this is the way I do it. I know this is not the only way.

First, you need a character. I'm using this one:

5e5e2066dbabc658b54f0573d999baf5a14e5fac_1_271x500

Second, launch an online or downloaded photo editing app such as Photoshop, Photopea, Pixlr, GIMP, Sumopaint, IbisPaint, or Picsart(IbisPaint and PicsArt are on mobile), and open a new image or an image from your files.

I will be using Photopea, which is similar to Pixlr, Photoshop, Krita, GIMP, and SumoPaint.

Third, create a new layer, then zoom in.

The 'Layers' section of the side toolbar should look like this:

32%20PM

Next, use the eyedropper tool to select the skin tone of your character from the forehead.

Click the color selection option in the menu. It will look something like this:

On Pixlr, click the second color from the left.

35%20PM

Everywhere else, click down diagonally down and to the right until you get something that sort of looks like this color relationship.

Zoom in on the face.

Select the pencil tool, a hard pencil, 1-5 pixels, opacity 100%.

Using the contour, draw 1 of two things. Both are good ways to contour.

Select 'Filter' from the menu. Select Blur, then Gaussian Blur, or just select Gaussian Blur.

Move the scale until the image looks something like this:

For Photopea, that could be anywhere from 2-10. Everything else should be from 15-30.

Create another new layer!

Next, select the skin color from the forehead, again using the eyedropper tool.
On Pixlr, select the color second from the right.
Everywhere else, move the color diagonally up and to the left until it looks like…

This.

Select the pencil tool, a hard pencil, 1-5 pixels, opacity 100%. Draw this:

Again use Gaussian Blur.

Create yet ANOTHER new layer! (Are ya seeing the pattern yet?)

Using the contour and highlight colours, draw something like this, then blur it using the Gaussian Blur.

Now, you should have something like this:

Play around with your editing! Here’s some examples of what I did with this character:

You put the contour kinda everywhere, but to blur it select ‘Filter’ (it’s at the top), Blur, and then Gaussian Blur. Move the slider to 5 and click OK.
