I go every year to the masjid with my 2 sisters and mom. My dad too but he’s on the men’s side. It’s fun, but at the same time boring, because we do nothing really. Read namaz, then eat, and leave. Personally, at the end they give icecream which is my favorite part.
I atleast got to see my friends. I hate waiting to eat though. They talk forever.
I know, I always almost fall asleep if i’ma be honest
Wanted to add a Muslim in my story but didn’t know how. Now i do! Thanks, it wasn’t as complicated as I had thought
So, how would a young Muslim man go about dating? Are there any rules? Are there any characteristics their family would not like in their choice of partners?
It really matters by the individual. There are some Muslims that date. We don’t really prescribe it because it cam cause a lot of unwanted feelings and emotions and unnecessary heartbreak but that doesn’t stop some of us from doing so, even if we do not 100% agree. Tbh I would like to have a lover
There is a link in the post I have made about it talking about our customs. Here’s another that will help as well: Courtship and Dating in Islam
I would say, any bad actions. Like, if that person is a drug addict or something. It really matters because there are Muslims that help change the person for their bad ways. Some Muslims help their lover convert or change some of their customs. It’s complicated to what specifically. So, I guess any person that plans on staying or committing such things as adultery and harm.
Well, I’m a Muslim but I have a boyfriend… and my boyfriend is Muslim too, so…
Yeah, that’s what I explained.
My brother dated too and he is Muslim.
I would like to ask a question for all the non-Muslims out here:
Why do you think it’s hard to add Muslim characters?
And one of the love interests in my story is a Muslim too lol
They make it seem like some of us don’t date. We do. And it’s nice to have a Muslim love interest. Or Mc.
Agree!
This is very helpful, I do have liberal Muslim friends who date. But can I dm you? I have a few very specific questions
Go 'head.
Personally, I have no problem writing Muslim characters. I do have a problem when some Muslim people dislike the diversity of my Muslim characters, though — but I think that applies to all cultures and religions.
I’ve had someone message me telling me one of my Muslim characters is evil because she listens to non-religious music
Just people I haven’t represented their particular Islamic views at that time, they can freak out.
Same thing happens with Christians who get angry at my Christian characters being friends with gay people, though
it’s a very touchy subject and religion is a big part of people’s lives. But im sorry the whole gay friends thing is just stupid and that’s coming from myself (a Christian with lbgtq friends)
I’m a bisexual Christian — Catholic to be precise — and I thought it was really ridiculous, too. Some people like to force their reading of their religious book on others
Conveniently they forget “love thy neighbour”
A lot of people forget that, from all religions. It doesn’t matter who or what you are, we must “respect and treat our brothers and sisters like any other.”
Yes, that’s the basic principle of most religions but people do not practice what they preach
But complain when others don’t do it either. They are so quick to judge the LGBT+ community but not themselves? Smh.
