How-To Guide: Making and Adding Muslim Characters

The lack of understanding or genuine education baffles me. Yes some people don’t obey their religion, but that doesn’t mean we should be telling people that’s the norm.

If we followed @CoraMae’s advice, all we could legitimately say is “Muslims are people” because of course you’re going to find Muslims disobeying every single rule in the Quran.

They always get flagged because I have no chill anymore

That’s the thing about being human. We all fail in some way or another. That doesn’t mean we should do the things we do according to the religion we follow.

Yeah, it’d be like the really stupid rules in the bible being the basis for Christianity when it was simply the laws, rules, and society of the time. Taking after our hippy lord Jesus Christ is where it’s at.

He might just be an incredibly buff dude with a fantastic knowledge of medicine to me but he said some rad stuff

I hate disobeying sometimes. With myself and other people. It really matters by the rule though.

As long as you forgive afterwards, it’s fine. Just don’t do it constantly.

Seriously off-topic though, but depictions of Jesus on the cross sometimes make him look uncomfortably ripped and I hate liking it. Those washboard abs man

The rules we no longer need to obey in Christianity are a little different than the question of Muslims who don’t drink alcohol — primarily because there’s no scripture in the Quran telling people that “actually, you can kill people and commit incest now”. There is for most of the OT laws in the bible.

If you are a good Christian, you are a good Muslim. We might have some differences but we are still somewhat the same.

Like someone might say “well Christians aren’t supposed to eat pork and they do. Same with Muslims”

Well, in the New Testament, God specifically tells Peter to eat whatever he wants. That’s not the case in the Quran

To some extent. There’s always going to be disagreements. Like, as much as I respect Muslims and strive to understand Islam, there are things I don’t agree with from a scriptural and theological level that stop me from choosing Islam as my religion, if that makes sense

One of the main things is that I actually do believe Jesus is God

I get it. I disagree with some things of Christianity too. Not all though. Imma be honest, I mostly disagree with some of the individuals actions way more than the religion. There’s not much I can say I disagree with the religion itself.

This is also why I’m agnostic. Fundamental disagreements with… Every scripture I’ve ever read >.<

But hey! I love religious people. They have their shit together much more than me, over here taking spiritual elements from every religion ever to make a super religion megazord

The reason I ended up choosing Catholicism is the Catechism. I always loved aspects of the Bible (NT more than OT) but reading a book like the Quran or the Bible on its own without understanding and educating yourself on the historical context, the language it was written in, the metaphorical value etc can turn you into an extremist because it’s so easy to read evil into a religious book when you read it wrong. I took to the catechism and realised I agree with most of the interpretations of the confusing scripture that needs to be explained

I’ve read people of both Christianity and Islam saying “yes it’s a sin to kill an innocent person, but is a non-believer really innocent? They’re guilty of turning away from God”. Things like that need explanation!
