Do you mean like having a narrator bubble during the transition or between transitions?

Hmm. I don’t know about that, but you can put a black background between transitions and put your speechbubble there.

I think it will be better to get a black overlay and then have the opacity change from 0 to 1 in whatever time frame you want whilst there is dialogue to make it look like a transition

But what I would do is:
&overlay OVERLAYNAME opacity 1 in 4
CHARACTER (whichever_animation)
Character diaglouge goes here
