How to make a 50/50 chance battle system?

This may seem confusing, but I mean like this:
You walk into a dark room, and then -

label retry

OMEN (scream_angry)
AHH! A MONSTER!!!
And no, I did not just scream like a girl…
(What do I do!?)

choice
“Punch It!”{

NARRATOR
This doesn’t work.

goto retry

}
“Use the Spell Book!”{

(This is the part where it has a 50/50 chance to work or not)

}

Maybe you meant something like this:

label fifty_chance
NARR
Include the 50/50 chance battle system here bla bla bla…

Anyways, hmm, I think I am a little confused, sorry…:sweat_smile:

You could always make the a choice that if the reader selects something, it will help them in battle.

Example, earlier in script:

NARR
What should you bring with you to the basement where there could be someone lurking there?

choice
“Spell book”{
NARR
You gained a spell book.
gain spell_weapon
}“Banana”{
You gained a banana.
gain banana_weapon
}
@pause for 0

Then later on in script when you see a monster and scream:

label fifty_chance

NARR
Let’s see if you can defeat the monster or not.

if (spell_weapon) {
goto defeat_monster

} else{
goto lose_game
}

label defeat_monster

NARR
Scene for defeating the monster with the spell book goes here.

goto continue_story

label lose_game

NARR
Scene for losing against the monster with your banana (duh) goes here.

goto continue_story

Back to the main storyline.
