How to make background fade like an overlay

so this is used in “Clothes Off” and in “The New Girl” where you can customize the MC and the background fades like an overlay and when you’re done customizing the background goes back to normal how do I do this I tries making the background an overlay but it’s too big.

do something like this It may seem really small but you can always make it bigger inside of the story and try to uploud it
