How to make character in screen without entering

I want my character to be on the phone with her friend and it go back in forth whilst they’re talking but I don’t want them to enter the scene every time how do I do that?

@CHARACTER spot {size} {x location} {y location}

You can find the sizes in the preview option by pressing spot directing, then character. (remove the }{'s when you’re coding)

There are some tutorials online, Episode has some templates, and this forum has so many threads with templates and explanations/walkthroughs.
