Hey. Thanks for stopping by this topic. Basically I’ve tried writing multiple stories, but I gave up on each one of them, because I lack creativity. I may get an idea of the plot I want to use for my story, but how do I extend the plot to at least 20 medium-lenght chapters? And when I can’t think of anything, I lose all of the motivation I had. I recently started on an action-themed story, but I’m thinking of putting it off since I’m not in the best emotional and physical state right now.
Could anyone give me tips on how to gain creativity or just how to write a good story in general?
Thank you a lot.
Going trough something similar rn. I have plans for 2 stories that I’ve started writing, I know everything about my characters, the general plot, and things I want to happen, but after writing the 1st chapter I gave up, I felt like it wasn’t good enough and people wouldn’t be interested in it, because it felt like the plot was very shallow.
Then I had a huge writers block for a month, and came to a conclusion, if I want to continue this story, I have to plan it very detailedly, since I discovered that I’m terrible at writing at the spot lol.
So actually right now I’m sitting and writing everything that happens in each episode, it may be soooo boring and I wanna give up, but for me, it will be worth it in the end!
I’m glad you’re not giving up! But I can’t even think of a plot right now
Yeah same, I wanna come up with more plots for future ideas, I used to be able to do that very quickly, but rn I have no clue where to start and what I want, I can only think of story titles
And usually it’s known for stories that some characters start to fall for each other and then all of a sudden something breaks them apart, and the point is that I don’t know what I should do
I understand, I’m there rn too, total block.
So you mean, you don’t have a plot yet?
I’m just a mess and a total confusion right now. I don’t have any ideas at all. I only know the main topic about the story
i know what your going through its called writers block which means that you don’t know what else to think of in your stories usually I would make my stories 800+ becuz anything lower than that is short. So I reccomend ploting <- making the story first before you code it and then write it out.
What do you generally think you’re struggling with more?
- The characters
- Visually Interesting Elements
- Sub-plots
- Certain Episodes?
Maybe I can help come up with some ideas?
I’ll try to do my best
the intresting elements and sub plots
i had the same problem you had. Why don’t you watch some movies usually I come up with ideas there. (I don’t steal the idea but I come up with stories)
For me it kinda depends on what stage I’m at. If I can’t even come up with an idea, I just try of think of a world with/without a certain thing. I know I sounds weird but it really helps to get the creative juices flowing since it’s much easier to think of when focusing on one particular thing. For example I’d try to think of a world without any laws. Would it be like the world of the Purge everyday? Or would people instinctively not commit any crimes?
Kinda like that. If you do have an idea I’ll just try to imagine myself in that situation instead of the MC. Again it’s just to get the creative juices flowing but when I do that i feel like I can think of different scenarios and possible events more easily.
Some of the stuff you said we can’t do anymore because of 13+
that’s the thing. I want to sort of write a (spin off ?¿) of the movie Divergent, since it’s the theme I’m going for but I’m not the best at coming up with plots
Interesting elements, I usually think of those while I’m coding, or just do them last, unless I have a genuinely good idea.
Sub plots are a nightmare for me sometimes, because I wanna write something unique, never seen before, but sometimes the ideas just don’t flow when you intend them too, for me… shower-thoughts are a life saver lol
this will surely help me a lot, thanks!
If a long story is hard to write, maybe you could start by writing a short story with maybe 5 episodes. I think it’s easier to start with something smaller.
o why don’t you change the characters up make it seem like its like that. And btw how long have you been on episode you seem like me when I was younger trying to come up with stories. (im not trying to be mean when I said that)
I mean, I’ve been on Episode for a long time but I only learned the coding like 1 month ago or so?
