Yow need to make the nearest edge of the ring an overlay and when adding it, put the characters in a layer behind the overlay

I meant that you need to make this edge an overlay

The code to put the layers is
@overlay OVERLAY moves to layer 5
@CHARACTER moves to layer 4
(You can put different numbers, just be sure that OVERLAY layer>CHARACTER layer)
