How would you input clothing items?

If you make a new clothing item, would you have to put it as an overlay and can it be duplicated onto other characters?

If you want that on your characters, you’ll have to upload it as an overlay and use it as such which means you’ll have to code it to a specific spot or animate it to move with characters m, obv depending on your scenes. For having the overlay more than once, you can:

  1. Upload the overlay a second, third, fourth time etc to have ‘different’ overlays.
  2. Use the create command:
    @overlay APRON2 create from APRON
which creates a duplicate overlay from that overlay within the script.

For animating overlays I recommend you read up on Dara’s guide:

Is this after I put in the overlay?

For the first method of uploading multiple overlays of the same PNG, you can do that as many times as you want, for the second method, you only need the one overlay and you can create as many duplicates as you want from it but you’ll need to give each overlay a different name from the last (with either method).

I’m not sure if you have to spot in the original overlay first though to be able to make duplicates from it or not, or whether you can create them without the original having to be in the scene.
You could try, I just normally place the original in first though. :woman_shrugging:t3:

Ok, I put the overlay the way you told me and it’s there I don’t see it! like it’s invisible!

Add an “&overlay OVERLAYNAME opacity 1 in 0”.
Overlays that have been added using the create command typically need to have their opacity set.

Here’s most likely another stupid question: Do I put that with the duplicate overlays?
Like where would I put it, at the end or the begin?

I would put the original overlays first and then the duplicates beneath them in terms of script. :relaxed:
And no, don’t worry, none of these questions are stupid — we all have to start somewhere and this is what the forums are for!

Thank you, that’s exactly what I did and the duplicate overlays are there, but I can’t see them. I can move them around, but can’t see them!

You just have to add:

&overlay DUPLICATEOVERLAYNAMEGOESHERE opacity 1 in 0

And then you can either have a series of different lines with the same thing for each overlay e.g:
&overlay DUPLICATE2 opacity 1 in 0
&overlay DUPLICATE3 opacity 1 in 0
&overlay DUPLICATE4 opacity 1 in 0
(This one is what I recommended for you though because it’s easier to spot mistakes).

OR

You can have them on the same line:
&overlay DUPLICATE1 opacity 1 in 0 AND overlay DUPLICATE2 opacity 1 in 0 AND overlay DUPLICATE3 opacity 1 in 0 AND DUPLICATE4 opacity 1 in 0
