Hi! I have Hydrocephalus and feel like more people need to be educated about it. Also known as water on the brain, it is a condition where there is too much cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) in the head, which must be drained via a shunt, otherwise it can cause the skull to swell and neurological issues.
Wow I didn’t about that…how do you deal with it?
It’s really not much of a problem. I just have to make sure not to get hit in the head, and I have to get it checked yearly.
Wow, I never knew this until now
Do you take any medications or is it only yearly checkups? (If you don’t mind me asking)
Respect ! My lovely younger brother shares the same condition as yours. Only his condition seems a lot worse since he can’t read write Or speak at the age of 13 It seems as though this condition impacts an individual at different levels. Regardless, May god bless you
Just yearly checkups. I’m put in there, and they take pictures of my shunt.
Thats an MRI
Bless you ! You’re very strong I pray that you always stay happy and healthy
Thanks. Unfortunately, I also have autism, dyscalculia and am legally blind due to that, but I’m still here.
I actually just graduated from high school
Heyy Nothing is unfortunate about that ! You’re an amazing human being, it makes YOU special and it makes YOU into who YOU are today which is an amazing lovable person. I sincerely pray from the bottom of my heart that you always stay happy!! You really are blessed. I feel so emotional writing this
That’s amazing! Well done to you. I’m so proud of you!! That’s a great accomplishment and many more to come.
Thank you so much
Does he have a shunt? Yeah, I was really lucky that they caught it quickly
Yes he has a shunt too. He had a surgery when he was around a week old. They found out he had hydrocephalus before he was born so they were ready to operate him after his birth. He has his yearly MRI too similar to you.
I think mine was at two months after I was born. I had a brain hemorrhage that caused it. I was premature, so I was underdeveloped
Aww bless you. I’m glad you were able to get treated/ diagnosed appropriately. May God keep you always healthy and happy and away from any sickness that could affect your condition and overal health.
Thank you.
That’s cool and proud of you for being a strong person
The struggles only make me stronger. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
