I Have A Question For Everyone In The Community

Alright, so I have a question for everyone in the community and I would love to hear your views and opinions.

Now, I got a question from someone regarding a background I used for an edit. Let me ask you a question, now regarding episode’s backgrounds. Do YOU think it is important for an author to do research on EPISODE’S BACKGROUND, to find out where the background is located in a country?

Let’s talk. Please be respectful.

Tbh in my opinion, NO. Episode created these backgrounds. So, how should WE know where the background is located in a country? If they wanted to give us information about the background and it’s location they would have done so already. Episode backgrounds ONLY.

Now I know for sure, this background is located in a country:

Times Square, New York City, USA.

I agree with you. My stories are all connected and are settled in the USA and Canada. Canada is known for great snowfalls but that doesn’t mean all snow backgrounds on Episode are based in Canada. The background they give is for us to use, it shouldn’t be taken seriously.

Exactly!

Not really. Its not as if you are making a story. If it offends the person so much, you can just say in the edit the person is visiting that country

Honestly, why would someone be offended over a background that you used for an edit? Hm, I really want to know why? People visit countries, take pictures, and other things, and used in their editing and other things.

I think readers should focus on reading rather than bringing the author down because of a background. Like we don’t have time for doing whole research on background to make sure it is from that particular place. If readers can’t appreciate our hardwork and working hours to design a story they shouldn’t read it at all.

I don’t really think the readers care

Honestly, I don’t think readers or authors care where Episode’s backgrounds are from and their settings. The thought of me having to do research on a particular background has never crossed my mind because I didn’t think it was that serious. To me, it takes the fun out of writing so to speak; you’re not actually doing research on something that really matters such as a specific culture that you don’t have any knowledge of and would like to learn about to represent it in the correct way. Now, it’s up to the author to make the decision on whether or not they do research on an Episode background.

I think you shouldn’t stress about it. It’s not your fault or anybody’s and you were simply having fun doing an edit. This person probably took it too seriously. It’s just an episode background so don’t worry about it. It’s not your job to research every little thing especially when you are just trying to have fun doing it. :grinning:.

It totally depends on the story but yeah sometimes!

If it is important to the storyline than yes. If not, I don’t think so but if authors want to add it in then go ahead!
