Hey everyone! I need some help figuring out my characters life, personality, backstory, etc. The only thing I know is gonna happen for sure is that one of MC’s parents is gonna walk out on her at the age of 9 years old.

Personality

• MC is confident, driven, has a specific purpose, caring, determined and also does anything to avoid her issues, the nice girl who gives people the benefit of the doubt, doesn’t care for material things and typical problems, avoids conflict, etc.
• MC is insecure, pushes people away, and does any and everything just to get by, secretive, mean girl who doesn’t care for anything or anyone, softer inner shell, etc.

Parents

• MC’s mother is “dead” which causes MC to be a mean girl.
• MC’s mother is “dead” which causes her to be a good girl who tries to live the best life possible.

Backstory

• MC had a normal childhood besides the fact that one of her parents left. She used to drink a lot to avoid the pain, but eventually she got over it and decided to live a better life.
• MC had a horrible life because one of her parents left her and the other struggled to support both of them so she turned to (some type of coping mechanism which caused MC’s life to become worse and she also turned cold-hearted as a way to cope.

I think if the M.C is rude and a mean girl the story will have more drama and the character will have the chance for a big advance like from hating herself to a love everyone and accept herself, while if she was nice and good from the start you can advance the character to something better but not in a level that she would if she were rude.

I saw many writers saying the character needs to have an advance during the chapters, but I also think that it would be more interesting. In a mean girl, you see all the pain that her past cause to her because most likely you’ll see hurt people hurt other people, while if she is kind I think it would be more difficult to show all the pain that this cause
