This is actually my first topic. The reason is that I need some ideas for the execution of this scenario:
A man (a stout man actually) had been working and living abroad for many years. He then returned to his old house. He has a tree house in the backyard of his house. The tree house is old and dated, but the man had an affection on this house, ever since he was a kid. He had played there during his chilhood days. After being abroad for so long and having not seen his childhood place for years, he refused to leave his good old tree house even when a storm arrived.
Now the thing with this is that I want to create an scenario in which the storm puts the old tree house in danger, the man gets trapped and can’t get out of it. And his neighboors (who live next door) try to rescue him from there. I specifically want a father and his two sons (two teenagers) to do the rescue operation. The oldest son and the father first go by themselves, but they fail to do it and beg for help. Then the youngest son comes in, and with not only his strength and speed, but also his intelligence, saves the day.
The two questions are: What parts of the house can be broken by the storm so that the man could be in danger? And the second and most important question is: What could be good ideas for the rescue operation?
I basically want the rescue operation to be: Man is in danger, father and son come in to rescue him, they can’t do it by themselves and beg for help, younger son comes in, then the three together with strength and determination save the man from danger. The question is how can I put everything together?
You could have a tree branch fall infront if the door, or perhaps the ladder falls off?
Then the ladder smashes the neighbours window, alerting them and they rush out, to try and help. But they can’t help from the ground so the youngest son climbs onto the roof of his house and climbs along the branches to the tree house, where he then attaches a new rope ladder and the guy is saved
Though in this case the houses are not so close together. And I want the father and the oldest son trying to contribute on something first, but fail to do it. I want the scene to play out as if they cry for help after that and then the youngest son comes in, uses his intelligence and together with his brother and father finish the job together and save the day. Sort of like a dramatic and suspense scene, full of action.
Okay. If it can’t be possible, then what if maybe it is not on a tree house?
Maybe I can make the man being in trouble due to something else. Maybe he was repairing his house and then he gets into trouble by nearly falling off or something?
It could be anything, but I just want the concept I mentioned earlier to stay (the oldest son and his father struggling to help the man in a dire situation and then his brother comes in, has an idea, then the three together finish the job, and problem solved).
What could be a good situation for a mess that the man gets involved with? And how could the rescue operation go?
Okay. So I finally figured out what do. My story goes like this.
The man was at his tree house when the storm arrived. He knew that the tree house was old and that it would collapse soon, so he decided to leave. Unfortunately, the ladder breaks so he couldn’t leave. Then, he had an idea, he decides to exit through the window, then climb down through a nearby tree branch all the way to the ground.
But the window was too small, and the man was big. Therefore, he got stuck. He shouted for help. His neighbor heard him and, given that there won’t be any time for the rescuers to arrive, he decided to do it himself. He called for his eldest son to help him with the ladder. The son holds the ladder while his father climbs up to remove the man out of the window. Unfortunately, the storm was fierce, and the ladder kept shaking, leaving the father in danger, no matter what the son tries.
The youngest son heard the cries for help from his older brother, and rushes to help. He had an idea, he had a big rope with him from the garage. Very big. He then climbed a nearby tree with it. He ties the rope on a tree branch. Then he tells his father to climb down the ladder because he will give the rope to the man. He throws the rope to the stuck man and the boy tells him to hold it tight. He was going to pull him out from it, and then the man would go swinging to the ground. The boy pulled as hard as he could, but he wasn’t strong enough, so his older brother decides to climb up the tree and help him. The two brothers pull as hard as they could until they finally get the man free with their combined strength.
