Now the thing is, I’ve planned a lot of stories in my head. And in all of them, there are common (similar) scenes and characters related to each other. But to read one of them, you don’t have to read the previous story first. It only allows you to have eye familiarity and extra readiness for some scenes and characters when reading the next one.
The problem is, I guess I’m not going to enjoy writing all my stories in their current order as much as I thought. Because it always seems like I’m going to have another story I want to write at that moment. I think I can be happier if I write them in the order I want, and readers can get more efficiency and have fun.
But having a timeline for my stories, I think, breaks that. I don’t know what readers want. I guess it would make more sense to read them in order. So they don’t get confused. But even if they are read them in order, eventually each will have its own separate subject, main characters and love interests. So, the relevance of my stories to each other is never big enough to actually affect each other’s main subject.
But I still don’t know if I should follow my timeline or make myself happy. I’m so ambivalent…
Please, tell me your thoughts. I’m open to advice.
since each story has its own timeline and storyline I don’t think that’s a problem. you said so yourself
i know this sounds selfish, but think of yourself first. It is your story, your characters, your world you are it’s creator. Don’t go what if the readers won’t/ will like that? Because not everyone will have the same opinion. And you can’t satisfy all of them.
if the reader wants a more in-depth look, yes.
regarding to this. try them both. see which one you like most. then you decide.
I agree with AlexandraD! I also think that as a reader, it’s kind of cool to read something non-chronologically and figure out the timeline for yourself, it’s a real “Oh!” moment when you realise why one thing happens because of something in a different story or something like that, or when a character you’ve seen before shows up again!
Writing on Episode is about following your passion, and doing what makes you happy. It’s your choice, but if I were you, I’d either do what makes me happy or work on two stories at the same time
@AlexandraD & @juliewrites
Thank you so much for both your answers! They really helped me
For now, I’ve decided to write the story I want. And if I feel uncomfortable in the future, I’ll consider writing two stories at the same time.
