Hey all! I’m starting a new story titled, Someone Else. I have a basic plot line ready, but I really wanted to ask for some ideas from people in the community! I thought it would be nice to include some things in my story that people would like to read or maybe haven’t found a story with their interests!
Anyway, any suggestions are welcome (literally anything), but I mainly need help with perhaps the end goal of the MC (let me know if you have any ideas for that–it can be completely random) and maybe personalities of people.
If you have any sort of question (about characters, story line, etc.) feel free to let me know! Of course I won’t be able to do every single suggestion (if people even reply xD), but I will try to include as many as possible, and maybe save some for future stories. Oh yeah, if there’s a suggestion you really like feel free to comment it again or like it, so I know a lot of people would like it! (If people respond. . .)
I’ll for sure post updates and definitely more of these (and polls) in the future if you all like them! My cover is still being reviewed, but I’ll post it as soon as possible if you want!
Anyway, if you are still here, thank you for reading all this nonsense, and it would be great if you gave any ideas! Have a great day!
I’d definitely love to see more well written (non-stereotypical) LGBTQ+ characters whether they’re mains or have bigger supporting roles. I’d also like to see plus size characters with bigger roles than being a background character.
Other things I’d also like to see more of:
Varieties of POC MCs or LIs.
More modest or aesthetic clothing options rather than crops, skirts and heels.
MC that doesn’t care/is not attracted to the LI abs which also leads to: Less LIs with the athletic body.
LIs that aren’t the ‘hottest guy’ in the school, but perhaps the ‘unseen’ one, or the ‘unattractive’ one or the ‘chubby’ one etc.
Tall MCs.
Also, no pressure lmao. This is just a general overview of what I’d like to see, I’m not all at all saying your story needs to have these implemented.
Oooh awesome! I’m definitely gonna have a plus-size character who’s not like a background character (maybe a best friend, something like that). Unfortunately, since this is my first story, I think it will be a bit too complicated for me to have 2 LIs (one male, one female, or the ability to pick the gender of the LI) because I wanted to have a male LI for this story (maybe something else in the future ), but I’ll hopefully (definitely) have some LGBTQ+ characters other than the MC and LI. Anyway, thank you so much for your wonderful suggestions, and let me know if there’s some stereotype that really irks you (about plus-size/LGBTQ+ characters), and I’ll be sure to avoid it! Sorry for the huge, terribly long reply; I have a big problem with talking a lot. Thanks again!
If you are including romance then non toxic cute relationships are not only fun to write and read. It also is a better message to put out instead of the ones mafa stories put out. It kinda makes people my age act cringy over a toxic LI. Also I agree with the points above making LGBT+ character that is not obsessed with sx as well who take an important role that is not the Mc’s stylist. Also I have a plus LI if you choose the dating a women option and I like including characters who are different and it is so cool to see. Not only can the author learn something new so can the audience.
Haha no, it’s fine! I don’t mind long replies at all.
I can’t speak for every LGBTQ+ person, since I myself am only a demisexual, but since it falls under ace, a lot of people assume I’m an asexual who doesn’t have a sexual bone in my body. So I guess what annoys me is that people assume ace people either don’t have sex or can’t like it…
For bisexuals, their sexuality doesn’t automatically mean they’re more promiscuous.
For gay men, I’m sure they’d get annoyed with seeing a gay best friend character whose only purpose is thirsting over men and the LI, boosting MC and listening to her problems without any backstory or important screen time for himself.
For plus sized people, there’s also the assumption that they eat too much, but that isn’t always true. I’ve known people who don’t eat a lot at all and yet still struggle to lose the weight so conditions, genetics and medications can play a part in that, it’s not always food. Also! The assumption that plus size people can’t do/aren’t good at sports — totally false.
Thank you so much for these suggestions! I love them all! I’ll have customization for most characters, so that will hopefully check off the first suggestion, but of course, many characters will be originally POC! Definitely agree with the second point. I mean I only wear like sweatshirts, so there won’t be a lack of those for sure (definitely will still have some other options like crop tops, heels, etc. for those who wear those!). This story is actually a lot about self-love and accepting yourself/being you, so hopefully I am able to accomplish the 3rd point well! I already know that the main LI won’t be the “hottest,” “most popular” guy, so it’s great that I’m not the only one who wants that . I might not do a tall MC for this story in particular (since it’s a little based on some experiences I’ve had, and I’m short so…), but I would love to do a tall MC in the future!
Totally. The relationship between the LI and MC will not be perfect, and will have it’s ups and downs, but I definitely don’t want it to be toxic or anything like that. I find it quite weird, honestly, when the MC falls for some hot guy that is toxic or kidnapped her (you know she wouldn’t fall for him if he wasn’t hot…). And as for the points about LGBTQ+ characters I 100% agree! I also love stories where the characters are a bit different and not the norm as well! Anyway, thank you so much for your suggestions!
Aw, thank you so much! If you want, you could check my instagram for updates if that’s easier (it’s @katyqoathewriter), but I’ll definitely tag you here!
Yeah, it should definitely not be perfect but as long as they know to be there when it counts. Like I got someone saying how they loved how supportive my MC was which was amazing feedback but also shows how stories like that have been pushed to the side to make way for ones where the LI tells the MC what to wear. So I definitely can’t wait to see more stories that include this well to read and I hope your story will be one of them.
Thanks! Yeah, it’s definitely a bit sad how toxic/unsupportive relationships are the “norm,” but it’s great knowing that there are stories out there not following that structure. Your story sounds great, do you mind sharing the name? I would love to check it out!
Tbh i love the typeof cold love were in they r a bit enemies at first…but that comes too clichè …but i love it in stories …i like cold love at first were he is so very cold…example storm character in the story mystery in the hanging hill lane and the mermaid and the millionare …
Try to make it very interesting…
I honestly love those stories as well . I’ll see if I can include that in my story! If not for the main characters, maybe for the side characters! Thank you so much for the suggestions
