I'm having a script error! [SOLVED]

Hello everyone!

I’m having a script error and I do not know why.

Here is a picture. It’s hard to see, sorry!

It says there is an error { on line 19 that does not have a matching } but it’s matching is on line 22.

What’s its about

The MC choosing her LI

Here is the written script.

                                 Its down below!

INT. BLACK - NIGHT

@KLEO walks to screen center

label ChoosingLI

    NARR
Who are interested in dating?

choice
“I’m interested in guys!”{

@pause for a beat

    NARR
So, you're interested in guys. Is this correct?

choice
“Yes, it is!”{
gain LoveInterest_Is_Guy
go to LI_Male_Branch
}

"No, I picked the wrong gender!"{

goto ChoosingLI
}

}
“I’m interested in girls!”{

@pause for a beat

    NARR
So, you're interested in girls. Is this correct?

choice
“Yes, it is!”{
gain LoveInterest_Is_Girl
goto LI_Female_Branch
}
“No, I picked the wrong gender!” {
goto ChoosingLi
}

}

#{Start Male Branch}#
label LI_Male_Branch

#{Start Female Branch}#
label LI_Female_Branch

So, could anyone help me?

It should be ‘goto’ without the space

It says there’s no matching } not only when one’s missing but also when in-between these brackets is an error.

Yes, you can… I do it all the time.
So long as the } is on the same line as the choice.

For example, it’ll work if she codes it like:

choice
“Yes, it is!”{
gain LoveInterest_Is_Guy

goto LI_Male_Branch

}“No, I picked the wrong gender”{

goto choosing LI
}

I am very confused right now, because that was not what I said.

I said she could not have an empty line between 2 choices. meaning line 23, should not be there.

and your saying she I said she cant have a braket on same line as a choice, which is not what I said, and not how her code is.

You said she can’t have an empty line between the choices… but yes, you can! You can actually have 5 empty line/spaces if you really want. So long as there’s a bracket on the line which connects to the next choice. [Basically on the same line as the second choice.]

thats not what I am saying.

the empty line is between the end of the first choice, meaning after the braket. and then there is an empty line, and then there is the next choice.

you can not have an empty line between two choices.

You can have an empty line between two choices… I just showed that you can!

You worded it wrong. What you should’ve said [to avoid confusion] is: that the choice should be on the same line as the bracket, not that they cannot use a space/empty line between two choices.

no you didnt,

you did it like this

choice
“Yes, it is!”{
gain LoveInterest_Is_Guy

goto LI_Male_Branch

}“No, I picked the wrong gender”{

goto choosing LI
}

what she had done, and I said she could not, was this. try it, it doesn’t work

choice
“Yes, it is!”{
gain LoveInterest_Is_Guy

goto LI_Male_Branch

}

“No, I picked the wrong gender”{

goto choosingLI
}

sorry, if I seem a bit harsh or angry over this, I had a hard day, no excuse. I know

I saw the label space, but someone else already mentioned that! And the label space is not relevant to this conversation.

No, I showed her that it’s possible to have a space between two choices. But the bracket needs to be on the correct line.

Spaces aren’t an issue.

I do it myself, as below for example.

There’s two spaces between my first and second choice… but because I have put the bracket on the correct line [and she didn’t] mine works.

Basically if [on her script] her bracket had been on line 24 [the same line as her next choice] then it would’ve worked fine, regardless of the spaces between.

I feel your ignoring what I am saying.

you keep saying it can be inside the braket, which it can, I am not saying it cant

I am saying she cant have a choice with haveing an end braket, then a space empty line, then next choice.

which I dont understand, how you dont understand, as its pointed out, in the picture, and in the code

I am not saying she cant do this

choice
“1”{

NARR
Space

}
"2{

}

I am saying she cant do this

choice
“1”{

NARR
Space

}

"2{

}

Actually… I have listened and I’ve understood perfectly. But the way in which you worded it, implied there cannot be spaces. I simply corrected your wording. :woman_shrugging:t3:
