With limited staff, especially in the current climate, plus the sheer volume of backgrounds and overlays needing approval, I think the majority of the time, the approvals team does really well.
At contest times, there’s also even more people rushing through backgrounds and overlays, which adds to their stack. A week really isn’t that long to wait, if you’re working for deadlines, then planning ahead can be helpful.
