NOTE: This might be a scene in my Episode story that I’m working on called, “The Void.”
Confusion:
Rachel gasped as she opened her eyes. What did she see? Nothing! She saw nothing! It was just blackness. Rachel looked around. She couldn’t find anything. “Hello?” She shouted. But no one answered. Rachel began to walk slowly. Each step she took made an echo. The place felt hollow and empty. It was as if she was in a void.
“This has to be a dream… some kind of nightmare… a prank?!” Rachel said to herself. “Hello?” She shouted again. Suddenly, she heard a sharp screech. Rachel stopped and looked all around her. She didn’t see anything or anyone. “Someone, help me!” Rachel yelled out. Suddenly, Rachel heard slight sobbing. She was confused. She knew it wasn’t her, even though she did feel like crying at that moment.
Suddenly, the screeching sound came back! It sounded like it was coming from above. Rachel looked up but didn’t see anything. After a few seconds, it stopped. However, when she looked in front of her, she saw a little girl sobbing while looking down at her feet. Rachel walked up to the girl. “Who… who are you?” Rachel said while scared.
The girl looked up at Rachel. But when Rachel looked at her, she noticed something strange. The little girl had the same colored hair, eyes, skin as her! The girl had short hair, hazel eyes, and white skin. It was almost as if they were twins! Rachel was so shocked. “Who are you?! Why do you look like me if I was younger?!”
Rachel then felt a vibration in her pocket. It was her phone. What it showed made her realize something. It was her as a little girl. Some black words came sliding down from the top of the screen. The words read, “2012; 8 years old.” Rachel couldn’t believe her eyes. “You’re… me?!” She said. The girl continued to sob. Rachel then realized something. “Wait a minute.” Rachel said. “Why does this place seem familiar? Why are we here?” Rachel asked the girl.
The girl managed to talk through tears. “Be…” She said before sniffing. “Because I-” She said before she was interrupted by the loud screeching sound that lasted for a few seconds. She looked behind her with fear in her eyes. She turned back at Rachel and said, “It’s coming!” with a fearful expression on her face. The girl continued to sob. “Help me, Rachel!” She said. Then as if by magic, she disappeared.
Rachel gasped. She looked around but couldn’t see the girl. Then she heard the screeching sound again. “Who are you?” She shouted while looking back and forth. “What did you do to her?!” Suddenly, Rachel’s phone vibrated again. When she tapped the phone, it lit up. She looked at the time. The time read, “0:00 AM” “What?” Rachel said. At the top of the screen, there was a notification of a message. It said it was from Unknown. Rachel, not willingly, clicked on the message. When she read it, she was terrified. The message read, “Welcome back, Rachel!”
Then it hit her! She remembered this place. No wonder it seemed so familiar! Rachel started to have a flashback. She was here as a child. 8 years old to be exact. Every time she was here she had a teddy bear in her hands. Only this time, there was no bear. Rachel tapped and dragged her finger everywhere on the phone screen to try and call someone. But the screen froze. “No!” She yelled. Then the screeching sound came back, louder than ever! It was coming from right behind her! “NO!” She yelled. Then she quickly turned around. The screeching sound was so loud that it was in her head. Then she saw the monster. It was nothing but black, but she could still make out an image. She screamed as the monster came closer to her.
Rachel opened her eyes and gasped. She looked around. She was back in her bedroom. It felt like a dream… or was it? Rachel looked over at her nightstand. She saw her phone and picked it up. When she looked at the time, It was 7:00 AM. The time was back to normal. She unlocked her phone and swiped through her home screen. Everything was in the ordinary. She placed her phone back on her nightstand and looked in front of her.
Rachel started to have flashbacks that included her in the void when she was 8 years old. They included her screaming, running, and dropping her teddy bear, Mr. Teddy. It’s been 8 years since then. She was now 16. Why was this happening again? Rachel pulled her knees up to her chest. She started to breathe heavily. With fear in her eyes, she said, “Not again.”
