My chapters are generally around 7-9 minutes long. I want to make them be around 15-18 minutes long from now on. Is this advisable? I just feel like if I don’t increase the length of the chapters, the story is going to end up being 100+ chapters long, which feels like it’s “too many chapters”, lol.
Have you ever increased the length of chapters later on in your story? Is it okay to do?
My chapters are usually long anyway, but there are specific ones that I’ve made longer especially because of how I wanted to end and because my story itself is lengthy so like you said, I didn’t want it to have too many chapters. I think it’s best to make chapters longer and not have a bunch of them because readers often get bored or annoyed when a story goes on for too many chapters when they could’ve just been longer and fewer.

I don’t think it matters too much if your chapter length differs later on in the story, because the people reading are obviously invested and probably don’t care as long as they get to read the next part of the story!
