Is my first episode too short?

Hi. I’m currently writing my first story, and right now the completed first episode is 8 and a half minutes long (not including the time spent possibly customising 3 characters). I like to read episodes that are between 10 and 15 minutes long, so this is annoying me. The problem is, I feel like the way I’ve ended the episode is the perfect way to end it, and I don’t want to unnecessarily drag out the rest of the episode. In my plan for the next episodes, I have content to make them well over 10 minutes long… but since the first one is short do you think this might deter some readers?

While 8 minutes seem short, you have to keep in mind that, if you drag out the episode (especially on the first episode) you’ll lose readers. It is totally understandable when the author tries to make the story longer. 8 minutes is fine for episode one as it is just getting started.

To be honest, it’s more about quality than quantity. If you write a short-ish chapter that’s really good quality from start to finish, the worst you’ll get is a bunch of fanmails telling you that they loved your story but they wished the chapters were longer. If you make it long but bad quality, people won’t stop to appreciate the length.
