Is there a way to fade in characters

Hi all,

I’ve seen the thread about making characters fade out in a ghostly way but is there a way of making them fade in during the middle of a scene? I.e transparent character appearing but fading into the scene rather then out

You can’t. However, you can upload a background as an overlay. And then change the opacity.

Yes I know It’s actually been a while since I have done this so that is why I was asking.

INT. HOSPITAL BED - DAY with HOSPITAL to 2.356 -636 1 in zone 3 at layer 2
@cut to zone 3
@overlay HOSPITAL opacity 0.5 in 0

This is my current script at the moment, what would I need to do to make a character appear as a slow fade in
