Is there a way to freeze a looping background for a few seconds?

I’ve finally got a looping background to work which is awesome, but I have a scene were characters are running then stop running (so she can yell at him for being an idiot) then start running again. I need to find a way to make the background stop at the same time they stop, then start when they start. Is that possible?

To be honest I dont know but maybe if you look at Joseph Evans youtube tutorials there maybe something helpful

You’ll have to upload your looping background (as an background not an overlay) and spot direct your characters and stuff and also have your looping background overlay and make it loop and stuff. Basically, you have your looping overlay or whatever and make your characters run and redo that scene with your background that you wanted to loop. You get what I mean?

If you didn’t here’s an example

INT. BLUE - DAY with FORESTLOOP to 2.206 0 0
&overlay FORESTLOOP shifts to -320 0 in zone 1 in 2.0 THEN overlay FORESTLOOP shifts to -640 0 in zone 1 in 2.0 THEN overlay FORESTLOOP shifts to 0 0 in zone 1 in 0 loop INFINITE times

Then you upload your looping background that you made as an overlay. You upload that into a background
EXT. LOOPINGBG - NIGHT

Yeah, you’ll just have to do that for the bg to stop looping. Just doing the same thing but with no looping overlay, just the bg itself…
