Length of a story

Hi guys! :black_heart:
I just wanted to know, what is everyone’s optimum length when it comes to reading a story. If they were to be moderate length chapters would you rather 20-30 or something like 60-70?

I prefer 20-30 chapters especially if it’s a good story
Sometimes story’s with 60-70 chapters can get a little boring
But that’s my opinion :relaxed::white_heart:

I think the best amount of episodes is between 30-50 for me and for episode length of say between 5-10 minutes for me

Many people ask this and my answers are all the same.

I think your episode should end it where you want your cliff hanger to end.

My story is typically 1,500 lines but that is only because the cliff hanger just happens to stop at 1.5k

I personally think the best one’s are from 35-50 (+) chapters especially if they’re really good. Although most authors use “Seasons” which also cause the lengths of it. But others make a completely new story and call it “Season 2/3/4+ or Book 2/3/4+”. This may just be me, but I’ve never read a bad story that was over 25 chapters long :joy: maybe because if im not interested or it doesn’t attract me then I stop reading past the 2 or 3rd chapter :woman_shrugging:

Most definitely, I’ve read some stories that were 80 chapters and after 50 or 60 I couldn’t read any more they were just dragging out the story line. :black_heart:

Gotta love a good cliffhanger!:black_heart:

I think it depends on how long the chapters are, and if the author is able to keep the story interesting. If everything goes really fast it can get boring very easily, the same goes for when it goes too slow. I prefer 30-50 chapters personally (with chapters of 10-15 minutes long).

I think I’m the same as you when it comes to knowing in the first few episodes if I like it or not, but sometimes I’ll love a story but by the end it’s just kind of weird, like the story’s going nowhere. Then again that’s only for stories that are 80+ chapters, which isn’t very common. :black_heart:

Agreed. And I’ve literally never even SEEN a story that was that long :sob:

Yes! Have you ever read a story where it just suddenly snaps into a storyline from nowhere and you are just like, sorry what?

I have and I loved it but I just wanted it to end ahah!

I really don’t mind as long as the story doesn’t feel dragged out.

Honestly, I’ve read so many stories, so I’m pretty sure I have, but can’t remember which one tbh lmao.
I did read something on Wattpad that suddenly got criminal/mafia-ish, I was so confused, (also stopped reading wattpad a bit after that, moved over to ao3)

100% agree with you, if a chapter takes too long i’m just sitting there like I could be doing other things with my life! :joy: But also don’t want them to be really short.

The only thing I miss on ao3 is the comments per line you have on Wattpad, those are so funny sometimes.

Yes! Some people just write the weirdest, yet funniest stuff sometimes! I wish that was a thing in episode!

Yesss, some things they comment are a little too far sometimes, but like if you look past those it’s way too funny (and cringe)
