Well, to put it simply, you’re closed off to others.
To put it complicated, you’ve been hurt or betrayed many times in your life by people you trusted but you’ve been taught by society and your parents to ‘be nice’ and respond a certain way in certain situations even if you don’t mean it. You might feel comfortable divulging certain information to people on the internet that you have no idea who they are really and you know you’ll never meet them in person, but when it comes to emotional talk you shut down because it starts to encroach on reality, which is what you’re trying desperately to get away from. You’d like to think that’s not the truth but think hard enough and you’d probably find it is. It’s why you write stories. You have a few good friends, but then you have those ‘friends’ that always seem to make you feel about two inches tall and they’re part of the reason you apologize all the time for things that don’t call for it. You feel lost and alone and don’t trust anyone fully. You guard yourself at every turn because at this point in life you expect things to go horribly wrong. You’re a catastrophizing master.
You picked black out of all the color choices you had because you feel no actual emotion behind your statement. It’s more of a courtesy that has been learned. And it’s representative of how empty your heart feels.
