I 100% agree.
Just yesterday I read a story where the MC’s “best friend” only started having feelings for her because she got a makeover and “got hot” (he’s one of two love interests) before then he didn’t even see her as a female and friendzoned her for years and in that same story the MC’s brother who was missing for 10 years because he was kidnapped by a cult, brainwashed by this cult, him going missing tore his family apart, caused MC an insane amount of pain so her brother is a victim who not only needs professional help due to a decade of physical and emotional abuse but also needs loving supportive people around him and guess what? instead of getting that and just letting him be the author of course pairs him up with the cult leader’s daughter, who has killed people, stalks people, obsesses over people, has kidnapped countless people and forced them into this cult, hurts people, is a psychopath, has physically assaulted and tried to kill MC on multiple occasions (she got obsessed with the best friend love interest and hates MC because she’s close to him), straight up enjoys seeing people suffer… now tell me that ain’t the most unhealthy 
you ever heard of? It’d be like the author having a best friend who just got out of a really abusive relationship and instead of getting them help and encouraging them to be around healthy loving supportive people they push them to get into a relationship with another abusive person 
Oh and it gets worse- the author tries so hard to get readers to care about that crazy bih and about them being together (oh yeah i’m tots happy that an emotionally damaged abused person gets paired up with a literal serial killer so happy that I totally didn’t drop the story after all that bs 
), remember how I said before that MC’s brother had been missing for 10 years? well instead of the author having him and MC reconnecting spending time together healing together getting their family back together we only get maybe one interaction of them together after he regains his memory but get countless interactions of him and the cray cray bih together (cause once again having him spend more time with a serial killer then with his ACTUAL SISTER who he hasn’t seen in a decade totally makes sense haha), when the MC’s brother finally remembers everything he beats the other love interest’s butt (not the best friend one the other one- who happens to be a secret agent who’s working undercover to bust this cult but MC’s brother thinks he’s actually a member) and gets mad that MC is not only sleeping with someone but is sleeping with someone from the cult (even though the dumbas literally just got done sucking face with that ugly psycho bih who’s IN THE CULT before confronting MC and the love interest)so we got hypocrites in the story too- oh and we have some more too haha MC is an undercover cop and went undercover with the best friend love interest and another side character and there’s a set of rules they have to follow but in reality only MC has to follow them everyone else can do whatever- BF love interest “You can’t have romantic interactions with anyone, stay professional!” five seconds later is hooking up with someone Side character after he catches MC kissing the other love interest: “I’ll cover for you this time MC but next time i’ll tell the boss, stay professional!” five seconds later hooks up with someone, falls in “love” with that someone even tho they literally only had sx and didn’t even utter one single word to each other so that’s totally realistic and later on wants MC to risk her life to make sure that chick is okay.
And that’s just one story that’s not even counting all the other toxic i’ve seen in total
