I rarely do this because other community authors usually recommend me great stories to read but today I decided to check the trending page to find a new story to read. Does anyone else feel like these stories on the trending page all follow the same theme and plot. With a few exceptions of course. A lot of authors write amazing stories on this platform but will rarely get recognition because their story is a romance that features a typical bad boy, gang leader, or rude boss. Anyways feel free to share what you think about the trending page as well. You can also share your story if you’re an author, I love reading on Episode and will promote it on my Insta page if I like it

At this point I just look to recommendations and the Promote Your Story forum to find stories. I do look at the trending section, but it seems like 90 out of 100 of the stories are always the same ones (or maybe that’s just the fantasy section since that’s the one I look at the most).

Genre: Fantasy primarily with some mystery, action, drama, romance, and just a hint of historical fiction thrown in from time to time (more so in later chapters).
Style: Limelight
Number of Episodes: Thirteen currently, more on the way.
CC: Kinda. You can’t customize the main three characters (for story reasons), but there is a character for you to customize starting with chapter five. You won’t see much of her to start, but she becomes more important later in the plot.
Description: Something ancient plots unseen in the darkness, and Amara must quickly uncover the mystery surrounding it. Otherwise, all will be lost.

It has been months since I last checked the trending section but unfortunately it has been like for a while. Before I started looking at shelves and the Forums for recommendations, I would have to scroll endlessly to find something different and I looked in both the Action genre and the Trending section.

Agree 100%. I’m pretty bored of reading stories that are purely based on romance and they all have the same plot.
Also if you would like, you could read my story, Crossing Worlds (It’s based on Fantasy). The first few episodes are pretty bad cause I was new to coding but it gets better

They also seemed to be very largely Limelight… I mean, I get it, it’s what the app is focusing on now. But it takes forever to find a story in any other style, not to mention every single cover (surely more than 90% by the looks of it right now) has a realistically drawn girl and guy in some suggestive pose on it. I’m tiredd

There are so many stories out there with unique, original plots nobody has seen on Episode before. Those stories should be on the trending page. Not just a crap ton of romance stories that all have the same plot. (With a few exceptions tho)
