Okay so – I believe this shelf is intended for arab authors, as it is arab American heritage month – this month represents the arab community, whether it be incorporated in a story or the author themselves being arab. Yes, having both would be ideal, but we must appreciate the stories written by the arab communities that do not include arabs in their story.

Sadly, I can’t even read the stories right now. Guess who’s going to be busy afterschool on Episode?!:call_me_hand:t4:

HAHAHA neither can I because I’m at school too!! Imma binge on all the stories on the shelf today though!!:heart_eyes::joy:

The month is about arab authors, if you see what episode posted… So they’ve selected arab authors with good stories, even if they do not include diversity, they did as promised.

Episode promised to pick Arab authors, but I don’t think that’s what they should be promoting. I think they should be promising Arab representation

Okay I see, well to be honest, there aren’t many stories with arab MCs out there, I’ve only come across a few apart from mine, so I’d doubt that there’d be enough to create a shelf around

I think they should give us a calendar of when these shelves are going to be for the next year. Then we can prepare ahead of time if we want to contribute something to a shelf in the future

I agree, but these shelves aren’t really like competitions, they just pick stories already written by the community, not ones written with the hope of getting on the shelf

Indeed, but if there aren’t enough stories for the shelves to actually represent the community they’re trying to represent, maybe they do need to give us time to make them representative

And also lead by example! Maybe they could release a featured story that corresponds with the shelf they’re promoting to inspire us

I would like that.

Okay but guys – we had black history month featuring African American authors, this is the same as that but with arabs

Then they could even get in touch with members of that community ahead of time and ask if those members are willing to contribute a new featured story

That means nothing. I had the same issue with the African American shelf with that one time they featured a black author that didn’t have a black Mc or barely any black characters at all. Don’t try to change the meaning of what we said, it still goes to this shelf.

Some characters in Hunting bad speak arabic. They were born in Egypt but idk if they’re Arabic. It’s a good story though.

Oh I see, well I get where you guys are coming from and I agree, but I honestly have no clue how this issue can be resolved. Have a great day everyone :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::revolving_hearts:
