Watching last season now and I have to agree with you,what was I seeing in rachel and Joey??

Joey and Phoebe were always my favorite characters, for me they were the most charming, the most relatable, as an adult they are the only ones I would actually hang out with if they were real people. You probably just wanted Joey to be happy, he never got the full romantic loving relationships/partnerships, the other characters got.

friends is literally my favorite show, but personally ross and rachel because of their history
