Let's talk about it hispanic/Latino skin tone

So it’s come to my attention that people assume being Hispanic/Latino comes from the color of your skin but it doesn’t just because someone is paler than someone else doesn’t mean they’re any less Hispanic/Latino. I come from a Chicano household meaning (I was born in the united states but my parents from Mexico) where my mom is extremely pale and my dad has a darker complexion but that doesn’t make my mom any less Hispanic/Latino. I just want to bring to light that you can be Hispanic/Latino and have a paler complexion and It still makes you what you are don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise. So please don’t assume someone’s background or tell them they aren’t that just because of their skin tone.

I am Mexican and I am paler than a average Mexican and am tired of people classifying me as “white” because of my tone. I wish people would just ask what I am then just assuming my race.

What some people don’t know is that Hispanics/Latinxs can be classified as White Hispanics/Latinxs or Afro-Latinx. Just as you said, skin tone does not make you any less of what ethnicity you are, especially if you’re Hispanic/Latinx because both of these classifications aren’t a race, they’re ethnicities. Hispanics/Latinxs can be of any skin tone from very pale to dark-skinned.

I’m half Mexican and half Greek, and I have very light skin. But here in Mexico, there is a lot of diversity when it comes to skin tone, eye color, and features.
