So we all know about the infamous episode update. It honestly makes no sense!
Okay so when I got a new phone and when I first went in the app it was all like I gotta read 18 chapters to unlock everything. I was like no ma’am (I logged into my account cause I was not about to deal with this shit)
New users should get the opportunity to read user stories and different genres than those annoying romantic featured ones. All the featured stories have the same plot:
Bad Boy
Love
Breakups
Drama
Not everyone likes to read the same romance story 100 times.
I don’t like how you have to pay 17 gems to unlock all the stories. That’s basically saying to but gems with real money right off the bat. This is so freaking ridiculous
My device had reset itself, idk how, and I redownloaded the app, it said I had to read 29 or 30 stories or chapters or whatever before I could unlock anything. So I said welp …
omgg. when i couldn’t log into my main account i made another account because i wasn’t sure if i was able to get it back (i was) and i was so surprised that i had to read a certain amount of chapters to unlock all stories like wtf. and then i can unlock all the stories for gems? gems = real money! no way i’m going to pay for that so like you did i read the same story over and over. and i did not want to read featured stories over and over!
I started playing episode 3 years ago and if I saw this the first time I played I would have exited the app deleted it and never come back to it .I ABSOLUTELY HATE romance stories .
And I complet agree that featured stories always have the EXACT same plot !
I don’t think there were user stories the first time I used the app, I remember only finding a few stories I liked and then just deleting when I got bored, then I gave it another try and suddenly there was all this new cool shit. I for sure would not have kept using it if all that stuff was inaccessible.
I changed between Android and iOS, so it wouldn’t let me transfer my account? I managed to track down links of some user stories I liked and read those as my “18 chapters” since it’ll still open + count those.
I’m not the biggest fan of this—not everyone has the same taste and it could definitely steer people away who aren’t fans of the kind of official stories Episode usually makes.
I don’t like it either. I always read Episode on my tablet and I have an account, and I thought that it was a good idea to download Episode on my phone. Then you had to read those stupid stories and that was so annoying
It took me a week to get through all of them because of school, and I just wanted to read my fav story.
(I forgot to mention I got a new phone when this happened.)
I absolutely hate the update. I’ve had people tell me that they wanna read my story but I’ve told them to not even bother because of the having to read a number of episodes from the featured stories before they can read mine.
Sounds like they can bypass it if they have your story link! I haven’t checked myself so I can’t say for sure, but maybe if you link them to it they can read without subjecting themselves to the featured swill?
Yessss!!! I used my parents phones to download episode because I forgot how it was originally… Episode makes new users read their stories first…which is understandable as they are a business and profit making company… but there should be an option where it tells users the existence of Episode stories AND Episode community stories where normal people like us write!!!
There should be a shelve for that in the app!

I going to recommend stories… and they are all the trending ones on the shelves…Personally to me…okk thank you for the opinion but since the stories are already trending and on the app for everyone to see and easily find without needing much search button… there is really no point recommending lol…That’s all they talk and get hype about…not realising other community stories out there. It’s sad though. And mostly they recommend Romance stories… that are on the trending shelve. If its not on the trending and they recommend, I understand…it shows the reader searched and read the story enough to recommend it.
It’s so stupid, I don’t even recommend episode to my friends anymore because frankly it’s not worth downloading if you’re gonna have to read 18 chapters of featured stories (which are all terrible) to be able to read the good stuff.
So yay, now my friends can’t read my stories unless they wanna sit through this mess Episode is seriously going downhill in flames
Apparently you can completely bypass it with a story link of an unpublished story and then you can go between the unpublished episodes multiple times and that counts? I haven’t tried it but I saw someone post it on Instagram.
I don’t have a problem with this, but 18 chapters is way too much considering most stories are now 12-15 episodes… plus you don’t even get to choose which stories you can read! I’ll gladly read my fav ink featured stories 5 times than whatever it offers,
A friend of mine went to download the app to read one of my stories lol. She saw that and immediately went “Fk this”. She was able to read the story if I sent her the link directly, but I’m not sure if it opened up everything for her?
Terrible update and I’m surprised it’s still around. Surely it hasn’t been good for downloads?
