Awwwwwww

Omg yes, I couldnβt agree more. I hate how 90% of the clothing for males are specific to bad boys or fancy business men, where are the feminine options for generic male characters? Iβd love to see some cute turtlenecks, shorts, skirts and dresses for the generic male body, that would be amazing
I was really disappointed that the male generic shapes didnβt get anything for the modest update. I think one of the big problems is that all the vaguely feminine clothing is tops with the bust intended to correlate with the female body variation, but what we need is fem clothes with both rigs and less feminine clothing for the bust rig. Different styles of jeans would be nice too, including some feminine ones. Female generic has a lot of really cute pants, so I know theyβre capable of creating cute pants
we need more long sleeves in general too. I was trying to make winter appropriate outfits for a character with the female body variation of male generic, but all the bust clothes are like sleeveless and cropped
It is funny that they spent all this time recoloring menβs clothes but didnβt recolor the crop tops to be more colors than just grey. I think either way, thereβs just not a lot of variation in the styles of clothing offered. Even if you look at it through the lens of straight girls being the core demographic on Episode, youβd think theyβd want or offer a wider variety of options considering the majority of the LIs on the app are dudes.
This problem could be resolved by simply adapting female clothes for males. Choose this top and shorts in the new update for example.

These would look adorable on a feminine male or a trans female character
I mean, yeah, but itβs not as simple as just making the female generic assets bigger since the rigs are so different. The bottoms in particular need a lot of work because male generic torso is basically a box lol and the female generic is an hourglass. They can use the same patterns, though. With the tops, again, Thereβs two different rigs since that too would fit with the female body variation since it corresponds to the bust, but it would need to be reworked entirely for a flat chest. I think the larger issue is the assumption that gender is always performed in the same ways - i.e. male generic wears masculine clothes and female body variation wears feminine clothes. In reality, peopleβs bodies and genders donβt always align in the way others expect them to. One of the male characters in my story tends to dress more femininely but I donβt put him in the feminine tops because they convey information about his body that isnβt accurate.
And neither of those things solve the issue of the lack of menβs casual wear that isnβt skinny jeans for chicken legs and a leather jacket lol. They need more patterned casual button downs, jumpers, etc. things that do fit within the more masculine type of clothing people want for male characters but is reflective of the variation of styles men wear. Thereβs a lack of alternative clothes too.
None of that is to say I disagree with you though lol. Because none of these suggestions are new, so Episode could have and should have been doing this all along
I agree that it wouldnβt be easy to adapt female clothing for men but it would be a lot easier than coming up with new patterns and designs, if thatβs what theyβre struggling with. Episode needs more variation when it comes to male and female clothing. We need clothing for females that is masculine and clothing for males that is feminine. I have a few feminine male characters in my stories that sadly canβt wear the most feminine clothing (crop tops and dresses) because they are not suitable for their body types which is very frustrating.
first off, calm down just a smidge lollhsaefgu- second, I actually agree that not providing male clothes (especially when they specify that itβs for a reason) is not discrimination of any kind. BUT I donβt think itβs smart to discredit any male discrimination occuring all together and denying itβs existence with examples of something else terrible.
respectfully, I did read your reply lol. It just seemed a little odd to bring up female discrimination and how its worse when you could simply just say that the lack of male clothing is nowhere near any intentional discrimination. I interpreted your reply as stated.
I also agree it is out of place to use the word misogyny when talking about men since itβs a word directly referring to women. But I feel like correcting her use of the word would have sufficed, as she probably wasnβt aware she used it in the wrong context
What does menstrual huts have to do with anything here?
loll thatβs what Iβm sayin
