Abhaya : Fearless, another name for Goddess Durga
Aditi : Free and unbounded
Anasuya : One who’s charitable (thought I’d add this one since she seems like a person who cares for others)

Your story sounds really interesting and yes, these practices are still common in rural India. Such people are regarded as “curse” and are killed by their own family! Sometimes people also go to the extent of blaming the mother (and it’s always the mother who’s blamed) for bearing such a child and call her a “witch”.
