Limited MC names option

I think I’d just go with the easier way by giving her the name that you want to (and also making that her display name, but putting that into the code so that it can change if the reader wants it to):

NARR
The MC’s name is _________. Would like to change this?
choice
“Yes, I’d like to change her name.”{
gain NAMECHANGE
input What is your name? | What is your name? | Done (ORIGINAL NAME HERE)
if (ORIGINAL NAME HERE is “”){
NARR
You need to have a name.
}else{

}}”No, I’m happy with her name.”{

}

You could explain to the reader of her name, its meaning and the character’s ethnicity + culture before presenting the choice which could influence some readers to keep her name the way it is. :smiling_face:

Then later:

If (NAMECHANGE){
#Scene with dialogue here where the name has been changed, so you’d use “[ORIGINAL NAME HERE]”.
}else{
#Scene with dialogue here when the name has NOT been changed and doesn’t require the rigid brackets.
}
