Also just to note down, when they introduce all the characters in the first episode -and it’s just that in the episode- so the MC stands screen right and a character comes in one by one (one leaving the stage the other walking in) and they do the forward wink if it’s a “bad boy” or something

“This is Brad, He’s the bad boy”
CHAR (talk point up)
But he’s a bad boy, so stay away!

I hate when the MC gets kidnapped by a gang leader and she starts being really sassy to him then the gang leader falls in love with her because of her “smart mouth”

The cliches I don’t like or generally don’t like are

Bad boy with no personality apart from being a bad boy like I’m a bad boy because I smoke wear leather jackets and bang anyone with a pulse there a good chance I have multiple stds and I like you MC you make me feel like your the only girl I want to sleep with.

Gang stories enough said none of them are written well or even close to reality. Yes chain reaction is written well but grossly inaccurate gang members aren’t sexy there people you never want to cross as there very dangerous. MC being meeting the leader then forced to join wouldn’t happen MC would get threatened if they went to the cops if they ended up going to the police the MC would get killed.

Mean popular girl who is a rich bitch and has no personality. Willing to break the law to get what she wants she does horrible thing yet is never held responsible.

Crazy best friend again no personality apart from that isn’t a true friend at all peer pressures the MC to do something she doesn’t want to do. And only thinks about boys and never cares about MC feelings about things. Horrible friend who cares about herself over MC

Overprotective parents are either so overprotective to ridiculous levels MC is 18 and can’t even go shopping without their permission and can’t date.

Abuse plain and simple it’s wrong and how many stories have some sought of abuse in them and a lot with incest the problem with these stories is MC rarely shows any long term effects it’s like she rescued and everything is fine and nothing is mentioned ever again.

A troubled past or secret that is mentioned in earlier chapter yet is never mentioned later in the story.

The psychotic bitch is the same as rich popular girl but is an actual adult who should no better always shown cracking it over the MC being with the LI. Always has the balled up fist angry pose everything she looks at MC.

MC never acts like a normal person other submissive to a fault or just a rude bitch.

Pregnancy stories where it seems the whole plot is around the pregnancy and crazy moody pregnant woman. I don’t know a single pregnant woman who acted liked this with these extreme mood swings. A bit more emotional yes but not bi polar.

Alrighty, so I’ve been wanting to write a rant here for a while, but it’s like ya’ll took the words right out of my mouth. I know someone probably already wrote about this, but I’m going to rant anyway, on two topics that I hate seeing misrepresented…

LGBTQ+. There are so many stories on episode that say they’re LGBTQ+. Almost all of them are misrepresented. Of course, though, there’s the occasional hidden gem (neon ghosts and in full flight) but others are usually misrepresented.

Mental disorders. As a person with mild depression and slightly more serious anxiety, I should be able to relate to stories that talk about such things. Instead, those of us in that community are very misrepresented (Again, the occasional hidden gem).
Bleh those rants were much shorter then I intended.

Definently agree wth the mental health stories i feel like i should relate to them but…i dont and it makes me feel like im crazy and im not “severe enough” or im just being dramatic.

It annoys me sooooooooooooooooooooooo much when the female mc is being treated like trash, this may be over exaggerating a lil bit, but younger readers may read it thinking it could be normal to be in a relationship where you’re constantly being controlled or abused, and it’s just the author mistake of making the male too much of an “Alpha Male”

Also last night I saw a story that was trending about this female MC that gets sold by her guardian (??) to vampires that feed off her, when her obviously doesn’t want to, the story does kinda make me feel uncomfortable, and should have the whole plot changed because it kinda has a link to “Giving a consent” and this story isn’t a good role model for that

- I’m kind of sick and tired of seeing so many adult/minor stories (teacher, boss, etc.) on the featured page along with really corny popular stories on there. I would like to see more LGBT stories getting the spotlight which I have yet to see a lot of.
- Abusive relationships being glorified and romanticized. This kinda goes hand in hand with my first point, but it needs another bullet of it’s own. The sad thing is that it’s usually the popular stories that consist of these kinds of relationships/abusive people and they always make it seem romantic or something. Enough said.
- When people make white characters (if they explicitly state that they are white) tan or any other color that isn’t y’know… white. I feel like some white people have this weird obsession with wanting to look exotic so it just feels really weird when people do that lol.
- The token black friend trope also kills me. When I see it in stories, I just laugh because it’s so annoying. It’s even worse when they make them the typical sassy black friend too.
- Last but not least, I’d really like to see more action/adventure stories become more popular! Not just because I’m a sucker for those genres, but because I think Episode should really venture out from promoting mostly romantic stories and shine a light on other genres.
- I would also like to see more black driven stories, but preferably written by actual black people so it doesn’t sound cringey and doesn’t represent us in the cliche way most stories/T.V. shows already do.
