Maybe a stupid idea, but maybe you can make a mindmap about the main plot (and characters, etc) of your story? You can write down some extra words and ideas underneath every word and maybe it will grow out to something special! 
Maybe you can also listen to songs, read stories or watch movies/series that has something to do with the main plot of your story?
