Hooking the reader within the first few taps is really important. Starting the story with something bland like the alarm ringing and the MC’s day starting is boring. You want to start in the middle of action, creating the unanswered questions discussed above. The unanswered questions can slowly be answered as the user reads on and by the time those questions are answered, there are new questions created by the plot and/or the readers are engrossed in the main characters and where the story is heading next. Any summarizing for the intro you do- if you do one (personally think it’s more interesting without one, but sometimes you may need one), make sure to leave out any unnecessary information. Adding unnecessary information is boring.
Also, another way I observed is often in fantasies, the setting itself is so captivating that it itself creates questions. This is what I strive for lol, but I don’t think I’m capable enough of a writer to do that.
