  1. The value should equal x=-1, the error appears in step 3 where the rule is wrongly used. They took out the 2 on both sides, but the 2 on the right is to the power of (-2). They did not apply the exponent rule correctly and forgot about the -2 power.

The 2^(-2) is the 1/4 seen in step one.
The steps should go as following.

  1. correct
  2. correct
  3. Apply exponent rule of image .
    So, therefore, the equation should go as following:
    x+5=-2(3x+1)
    Remember? The -2 is from the 2^(-2) that we got from converting the 1/4 into a non-fraction. Let me know if you need help from here.

  1. The function for this question would be g(x)=518,012(1.02)^x/12 where x=months since the end of 2019.

A) g(x)=518,012(1.02)^x/12
B) g(6)=518,012(1.02)^6/12 = 523,167 population in June 2020
C) g(12)=518,912(1.02)^(12/12) = 528,3723 population at the end of 2020
D)g(60)=518,012(1.02)^(5*12)/12 = 571,927 population at the end of 2024

Don’t stress. It’s no problem. The only thing is that I’m not certain is how to do question one and I don’t have time to complete it right now. I have to go to bed pretty soon and I haven’t showered. :sun_with_face: But there’s plenty of stuff online that’s just like it so see if you can work from there. 3 hours should be more than enough.
