🌟 Mental Health Resources

Hello, everyone! My name is Haruka, and I am 13 years old. Update: almost 14

I have created this thread because sometimes it can be very difficult to find mental health helplines, and I know that a lot of people here are afflicted by mental illnesses. So, here, I have put together a list of mental health helplines that you can access. The category ‘mental illness’ is for helplines that are for specific mental illnesses. The category ‘general’ is somewhere you can go if you are just feeling down, because whether you have a mental illness or not, you are important :star2: The links in that category can help you with anything. The category ‘messages and quotes’ are messages and quotes about mental health. You may also post them here via a reply, they will be much appreciated  :revolving_hearts: The category ‘situations’ is for mental health websites or helplines that specifically help people who are in situations that affect their mental health such as homelessness, bereavement etc.

RULES

  • You MUST be kind and considerate of others, or your post will be flagged.

  • Unfortunately, this is not a space for you to talk about your experiences in detail, as it may trigger other readers. You may talk about your experience briefly. For example:
‘I suffer from anxiety. I can get very nervous and struggle with day-to-day life.’ :white_check_mark:
‘I have depression because I had been physically bullied when I was younger.’ :white_check_mark:
‘I attempted suicide once by -method- because I felt like -how you felt-.’ :x:
‘My mother used to verbally abuse me, she would say -what she would say-’ :x:

  • Do not make fun of people for their mental health issues.

  • You may post encouraging and kind messages, quotes or images here.

  • You may not post mean, stigmatising, or otherwise bad messages, quotes or images here.

  • Keep this thread drama-free :star2:

I hope this was helpful! If you need to talk, you may PM me, as I have experience with helping many people suffering from psychopathy, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, and much more, and there is no need to worry about being a burden. However, please do not ask me for medical advice, as although I have experience in helping others, I am not a doctor. I can provide first aid links for self-harm, but that is as doctor-y as I’ll probably get.

:star2: Message to depressed people :star2:

If you’re feeling depressed, you’re not alone. Depression will tell you that you are, that you’re all alone in a world of darkness and hopelessness. But it’s lying to you. I understand how you feel. For four years, I had depression, but nobody knew. I spent four years bottling up my feelings and suppressing my tears. Now, it’s very difficult for me to express my feelings. It’s hard to cry, because I’ve forgotten how. Part of my recovery is learning how to cry. It’s strange, isn’t it? I’ve forgotten how to do something all babies can do. So don’t bottle up your feelings. It’s okay to cry. You may feel as if, if you were gone, nobody would care or notice. But that’s not true. All the people in your life who care about you, of which there are many, whether you like it or not, will notice and care. You make a difference, a good difference in their lives. You are not a burden. You are a sad soul who needs help, but never a burden and never something bothersome. You matter, and you are cared about, and that is certainly not up to debate. You are not weak. There is hope, there always is. When you turn a light off, you may not be able to see, say, a table. But that doesn’t mean it’s not there. Just because you can’t see it, it doesn’t mean it’s not there. Because there always is hope. And what we, and you have to do, is to keep hoping. This darkness, this torture, it’s treatable. Just like the flu, it takes time to recover, but you will. This is not your fault. You are not crazy. Just as it’s not someone’s fault if they catch the flu, it’s not your fault if you have depression. You are a good person, with a good heart, and a good soul.

:revolving_hearts: Message to people experiencing psychosis/hallucinations :revolving_hearts:

Hi, there. I am not diagnosed with any such disorder, nor do I suspect that I have one, but I have gone through psychosis and hallucinations, which are both symptoms of very severe depression. As I have not experienced any full-out disorders in this type, I will admit, I cannot say that I understand fully, but I know the terror of hallucinations. Sometimes they are harmless- just stars in your eyes or whispers in your ears. Sometimes they’re annoying- I would get random shapes in my vision during class, and I wouldn’t be able to see the board. But worst of all, sometimes they bring out your worst fears, magnify them and present them. Hallucinations can attack all of your senses- sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell. I know it’s terrifying, but you are not alone. However convincing it may seem, it is not real.

Am so glad someone made a thread for this, this is what my story is based on mental health awareness
You shouldn’t have to suffer in silence even if you don’t understand. Much love
