Most overused character names

Welp, I’d be damned because one of my WIP’s have a Nathan as a LI :joy:

sorry, but AURORA is literally everywhere and I started to hate this name after a year in the community xd

I am biased with Aurora. I have family members named AURA and every thinks they mean Aurora. No. We mean AURA

Aura and Aurora are, for me, two completely different names. But I meant definitely Aurora as I’ve seen it everywhere. :face_with_peeking_eye:

The fact my first story had a MC named Eva with that hairstyle :sob: her full name was Evangeline though.
That story is becoming a novel and is no longer on episode, thank God :sob:

My current story has none of the names listed here in it at all so I’m pretty proud ngl :sparkles:

I’ve never seen a story with the name Aurora in it (maybe it’s because I don’t read) but yeah. I did, however, name love interest’s sister Aurora in a WIP

I am relieved that so far none of my character names for my upcoming story has been said yet cause there is one that i was like “crap, I’ve seen that in a story or 2 already.” I do tend to pick more common names for secondary characters too

Yeah, I love unique names but in stories sometimes unique names are soooo hard to use because other people use the unique names until they aren’t unique. For me, the best thing to do is do research on names in the character’s culture or based off their background. They’re often underused, most common names in novels and episodes are European names :woman_shrugging:

Here’s the thing the MOST common Hispanic names are Ana, Maria, Carlos, Miguel y Jesus. But I have yet to see those names ever used for Hispanic characters in Episode. The one I see a million times is Mateo. And if I’m being honest I never met a Mateo in person, I’ve only seen it in media.

Oh, absolutely. Often people just make love interest Hispanic for fetishization. I’ve seen very little actual representation for that community that’s not some dom mafia boss who randomly speak Spanish as a way of flirting. They’ll make the characters have these names as an excuse for them to speak Spanish. And yeah, Mateo is everywhere :sob:

Kind of off topic, but those names are the biggest red flags to me for that reason:/ (not all, but most)

This is so off topic but that’s kind of why I’m anxious to get my new story out there because it’s an all Hispanic (one Indian) character cast. I just want to see my people as refular people. I’m even opening up full CC because not all Hispanics have black hair, black eyes and dark skin. In fact the majority of my family doesn’t look like that at all.

Holden. I seriously do not understand how people like that name.

The female character’s name is almost always Aria and the males are named after ridiculous things like “Lion” or “Blade” and whatnot
