Need help in character's illness

Hello! So I am currently working on my new project and the MC’s brother is ill. If you have any idea on illness that could be life threatening, could you give me some ideas on what type of illness the brother can have? And the signs, symptoms, if can be treated (what are the common procedures?)

I want to be accurate and give correct information to readers.

Well, there’s cancer. One of the most common terminal illnesses.

I’ve thought about it, but I don’t want to overuse it as I have seen it in a lot of stories.

I can help you out im a student of medical field so i know about a few illnesses or you can just Google the part of the body illness you want to use :v:t2:

Maybe cystic fibrosis? From what I understand, the disease basically makes it so that you always have a cold and eventually causes your lungs to collapse because you can’t recover. Most people diagnosed have multiple lung transplants and don’t live past 25-30. Your body has issues with producing the cells that make mucus, sweat, and your digestive system… so then these things become thick and sticky and simulate cold-like symptoms. There’s no known treatment for this one, though.

Another disease that could kill you (except this one will cause death within a week or 2) is meningitis. That bacteria destroys your nervous system I’m pretty sure. If it’s not caught quick enough, you can lose limbs due to dead tissue and well, you know, die. The treatment for this is antibiotics, but you’ve really gotta catch it quick bc this bacteria is nasty.

I know a lot about cancer, specifically Leukemia and Lymphoma, for it runs in my family. If you want to know more, you can dm me and I can answer some questions.

Colon cancer, one of the most deadliest camcers, it easily spreads to the rest of the body and kills you slowly and painfully.

Also Mast Cell Disease. Your body basically has allergic reactions to nothing!
