So I’m adding CC to a story I’m writing and wasn’t sure how to make sure I’m not putting a white skin overlay on a POC character of vice versa
I think it would be gain but I’m not 100%
Thanks for any help x

I’ve seen authors giving the readers a choice when they need overlays and there is CC.
You can ask the reader what skin color they chose. Example:
NARR
What skin color did you choose?
choice “Light skin tone” {
gain light_skin
} “Medium skin tone” {
gain medium_skin
} “Dark skin tone” {
gain dark_skin
}
…etc.
And use the respective overlays according to the gains.
there are 2 ways how to do it - either you ask reader in separate choice as suggested above, or your can make the script remember it within the CC without extra asking him about it. - with this “extra choice asing reader about skin color” writers usualy use limited overlays so they do not 100% fit the skin color of the character.
But insice CC you have to use points (instead of gains) since CC alows reader to “try” more skins and reader would gain all he tried (unless you redo the whole principle of the CC)
With points you can (if you want) remember all thi skintones so in case you want to make it 100% and make all the limb variantions this is good solution for you.
So with points, it will look something like this:
example:
choice [shouldPaginate: YES]
“Neutral 00” {
@FEMALEAVATAR changes bodyColor into Neutral 00
@SKIN =0
goto fem_neutralskin_1
} “Neutral 01” {
@FEMALEAVATAR changes bodyColor into Neutral 01
@SKIN =1
goto fem_neutralskin_1
} “Neutral 02” {
@FEMALEAVATAR changes bodyColor into Neutral 02
@SKIN =2
goto fem_neutralskin_1
} “Neutral 03” {
@FEMALEAVATAR changes bodyColor into Neutral 03
@SKIN =3
goto fem_neutralskin_1
} “Different Shades” {
goto fem_skin_1
} “Done” {
goto female_custom_1
}
and than later when you will use the limb ovverlays you will ide if/elif/else
