I think you need to put your overlay at a layer less than the characters:
@overlay (OVERLAY NAME) moves to layer 2 for example

another question if you don’t mind so the table is an overlay in front of the same table that is in the background, i put her at layer -1 and she’s behind the overlay i put her at layer 0 and she’s infront of it, i want to make it look like shes sitting at the table.

The chairs need to be separate so she can be put in a layer in between them and the table.
