Hello everyone! I would like to learn about looping backgrounds, I know what they look like, but I don’t know how to use them or create them so I wanted to learn about them
Thankyou! I’ll check it out (:
Sure <3
Umm I…really don’t want to sound dumb but I didn’t understand dara’s tutorial,
This is the placement code she told us to use
EXT. BLUE - DAY with LOOP_OVERLAY to 1.625 0 0 in zone 1 at layer -5
&overlay LOOP_OVERLAY_2 create from LOOP_OVERLAY and overlay LOOP_OVERLAY_2 opacity 1 in 0
&overlay LOOP_OVERLAY_2 scales to 1.625 1.625 in 0 and overlay LOOP_OVERLAY_2 shifts to 0 0 in zone 2 in 0 and overlay LOOP_OVERLAY_2 to layer -6
Butt she told us to only upload the background as an overlay, then do we need to upload the background as an overlay twice or something, orelse won’t it show an error saying overlay LOOP_OVERLAY_2 doesn’t exist as the only ovl we would have uploaded would be LOOP_OVERLAY
I’m sorry if I don’ t make sense I’m just new to coding so I get confused easily and ask dumb questions
Erm, that was a bit confusing but I’ll try to break it down. Basically you upload your own looping background as an overlay and you loop it. You cannot loop an image, uploaded as a background so this is why this works. You loop it by starting on, for example, the left and shift it to the right. There’s a specific code she uses that make it loop that is basically just bringing it back to the left side over and over again. I haven’t checked out this guide yet, since I haven’t needed it, but if it says to duplicate an overlay from your original one, then this means it’s using a “new” overlay each time. Does this make sense?
c: I really recommend Jen’s guide for looping backgrounds:

No problem! I found it really useful too when I wanted to start doing smooth loops.
She’s quite detailed with all of her guides, so there could be others of hers that might prove useful to you as well now or into the future.
Thankyou @IrisLevont for your time, Dara’s guide was also helpful, I really appreciate your help (:
