Okay, so, this may seem confusing, but whatever.
I’ll just get straight to the point.
When I go to overlay sharing threads or google drives authors or overlay creators made and put out to the public, there are times where they confuse me by giving the separate overlays and giving the background with all the overlays already in them. But I can’t use the overlays if they are already part of the background, if that makes sense. How do people manage? If thats confusing let me know and I will try to clarify a bit better, thanks.
Overlays can help with things like chairs or a kitchen counter. You’ll have to line it up with the original piece in the background so it looks like the character is behind the overlay.
So, let me see if I understand correctly, sorry. If you don’t have the normal image but the one with the overlays you just have to place the overlays they provided over the ones that are actually engraved in the image?
Yes. The overlays would need to be aligned with the original pieces in the background. You can either have the character layered over the overlay or behind it. Whichever is needed for the type of background and overlays you’re wanting.
Oh, okay. This makes so much more sense. Thank you and the other person who was replying for taking time to help with that knowledge.
You’re welcome! Hope I explained it good ![]()
You did, thank you. ![]()
I am sorry, I have one more problem. I was wondering how you would go about placing a different overlay than the one the author saved into the background without making it look weird or having part of one of the overlay sticking out.
Like how do you align your overlay with the background?
How do you place a different overlay than the one the author engraved into the background/image, and have parts of the overlay not stick out or make it look weird.
I.E., placing a differently designed chair over the one the author picked, and have it not look like you just stuck a different chair over the original one, if that makes sense.
Why would you want to put a different chair? ![]()
Oh, but also knowing how to correctly align the overlay would be helpful too but it’s not as urgent.
Well, it was just an example.
You may not want an overlay there at all.
Okay so I’m not sure if this is what you are saying but to align the overlay, you have to cut it out the way it is.
e.g This was the background.
I saved it and uploaded the image the way it was to an editing site/app. I cut out the bed only and saved it again the same way it was…no resizing or anything. So the bed still stays in the same position, only that now characters can go behind it if I want them to.
Does that make sense?
Yes, thank you. What editing app did you use for this?
Ibis Paint X on mobile. ![]()
Okay, thank you! You’re an angel! It looks beautiful!
