Hey, I need help with a scene I am trying to create. What I am trying to do is have all girls stand and give a toast. I have downloaded the champagne filled glasses from the episode props. However when I add them to the scene before even giving the toast the characters have them in their hands. Also, in my script you will notice that I have all overlays set to opacity 0. I did that so when all of them sit the glasses would seem as if they reappeared on the table. I know by doing that I will have to set opacity to 1. Is there an easier way to create this scene? If not how do I fix what I already have
INT.FINEDINE1 - NIGHT with DINE TABLE to 1.000 -155 1 in zone 1 at layer 1 with DINE CHAIRS to 1.000 -156 5 in zone 1 at layer 2 with FINE CHAIR to 0.694 -52 71 in zone 1 at layer -1 with CHAMPAGNE to 0.208 41 42 in zone 1 with CHAMPAGNE1 to 0.262 205 37 with CHAMPAGNE2 to 0.154 92 100 with CHAMPAGNE3 to 0.154 194 98
@overlay CHAMPAGNE opacity 0 in 0 @overlay CHAMPAGNE1 opacity 0 in 0 @overlay CHAMPAGNE2 opacity 0 in 0 @overlay CHAMPAGNE3 opacity 0 in 0
@CASSIE changes into CASSIE_Party @ISABELLA changes into ISABELLA_Party @LELA changes into LELA_PARTY
@JANAE spot 0.992 30 -5 in zone 1 at layer 0 and JANAE is idle_sit_neutral_loop and LELA spot 0.947 295 20 in zone 1 at layer 0 and LELA faces left and LELA is idle_sit_neutral_loop and ISABELLA spot 0.821 78 93 in zone 1 at layer -2 and ISABELLA is idle_sit_neutral_loop and ISABELLA faces right and CASSIE spot 0.767 262 118 in zone 1 at layer -3 and CASSIE faces left and CASSIE is idle_sit_neutral_loop @transition fade in black in 3
LELA (talk_sit_crossarms_neutral)
My clients are always in some mess. You tell grown people to stay out of trouble and they do the opposite.
@LELA is transition_sit_to_stand AND LELA is idle_cup_neutral_loop AND JANAE is transition_sit_to_stand AND JANAE is idle_cup_neutral_loop AND CASSIE is transition_sit_to_stand AND CASSIE is idle_cup_neutral_loop AND ISABELLA is transition_sit_to_stand AND ISABELLA is idle_cup_neutral_loop
@add Champagne Flute Filled to LELA @add Champagne Flute Filled to JANAE @add Champagne Flute Filled to ISABELLA @add Champagne Flute Filled to CASSIE
OK now I might be missing something but I don’t really understand why you used the props overlay why you just don’t use the props when you anyway add them to the characters?
I am not sure if you wanted some special effect with the overlays or if it is possible that you just don’t know how to use props (sorry if you do it is just bit confusing for me)
I’m not quite sure how to use the props. I did @add PROPNAME to character after the dialogue yet it shows up at the beginning once the scene starts. The only reason why I also added them as overlays is because I want the glasses to appear on table after they do the toast and sit down
OK so basically if you want the character to hold something and that the thing moves automaticly with the animations it is a prop - there are some props included in the episode - and we can’t create our own props.
the command @add - will automatically add the selected prop to the character @add PROPS_NAME to CHARACTER
and to remove it from character @remove PROPS_NAME from CHARACTER
While overlays are independent “objects” which do not automatically move with the character animations - so if you want champagne to be on table instead of in character hands than for this you will use overlay.
So if you want the character to make toas and then put glass on table
you first add the prop,
make him the animation with prop
remove the prop
and let the overlay appear on table.
I hope it make sense if not I can make you an example
Also if you add prop - better refresh the page before you again preview it because the props stay in memory of the portal so if you preview and didn’t went till the line where you remove the prop and than again previewed - it it will aper from start even if you preview scene where the prop isnt at all.
OK so here is an example of how to use props (you can play it in your portal):
INT. ITALIAN RESTAURANT OL - NIGHT with TABLE ITALIAN at layer 10
&LELA spot 1.280 77 -69 in zone 1 AND LELA faces right AND LELA moves to layer 1
&zoom reset
LELA (eyeroll_subtle)
(I hate Champagne) @add Champagne Flute Filled to LELA @LELA is idle_cup_worried_loop
LELA
(but I have to drink it anyway because it is Isabella’s birthday)
LELA (talk_cup_toast_happy)
Happy birthday! @LELA is sip_stemware_neutral @remove Champagne Flute Filled from LELA @LELA is idle_armscrossed_neutral_loop
in case you want the glasses to apear on the table only after the toast - simply add the overlays of the champagne after such scene after you have removed the props from the character.
