I find that the people in my stem classes dress pretty casually. T-shirts and jeans are good choices. For characters with long hair, I’d recommend updos or down with their natural texture.

Something like this is pretty typical among nerds.
You might also want to check out dark/light academia aesthetics if your character likes to present themselves as highly educated and in love with learning. That style is a bit more formal and uses neutral colors.
