lmao have fun
Cheerio
I am honestly so concerned for young teenagers today. The youngest reader I’ve heard from on one of my stories was 12 and that made me seriously reconsider what I was putting out there and change the way I was writing. I remember that I used to watch The Vampire diaries when I was about 13 - 14 and that on it’s own with everyone in push up bra’s and fake eyelashes, dating much older, literal serial killers was enough to mess with my assumptions and expectations regarding sex and love. I think very few 13 year olds are mature enough to be able to read stories like the ones episode has been publishing lately with a critical mindset and understand that the behaviors of the main characters are not healthy. I read a lot about how many young teenagers are struggling with insecurities because of the hyper sexualization in media portrayals and this is… so not helping. Like many people use reckless sexual behavior as a form of self harm. And I’m all for sex positivity but not without self awareness and a mature approach. I am under the impression that Episode is an app developed by actual adults and as such I think they should take more responsibility for what message they are giving with their content. Like, not to be a prude or a kill joy but… CAN SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN???
My youngest reader was 10 and she wrote a book of sex scenes. I ended up reporting her but I don’t know what happened.
It’s very sexual. It also switches back between being spotlight and normal. They have options like “get naked”, “ask guy to wear your panties”. I mean it’s funny and I get it, but this one seems OBSESSED with sex and nudity.
It violates there own guidelines. Can everyone see it or is it just for a few readers cause It’s not on my app.
I don’t have it… yet…
I would be completely ok with this story IF they let us write ones like it ourselves. I had a love scene in good taste where a woman was kissing (that’s all kissing) a guy from behind. You could see her bare back, nothing else. I was told if I didn’t put a bra on her, it would be taken down. WTF!? Most people are naked when they have sex and don’t wear bras. I only wanted to SUGGEST nudity without showing anything, but a woman’s bare back is too sexual!? And they do this!? Again, these are stories people want to publish, but are stopped from Episode from doing so because of “guidelines.” I’m not against guidelines, but don’t have double standards. I really think they should consider lifting the guidelines and allow for a rating system that is above America’s PG-13 (no other countries use it and many movies here have to be rated M15 because they aren’t in line with America’s rating. I’m tired of not being able to take my little one to see a movie because the producers seem OBSESSED with getting a PG-13 rating, not PG.)
Hahahaha
What. The. Fffffffffffff…
I’m done. I’m deleting the app for real. Screw this. You’re not getting any ad revenue from me anymore, Episode.
Not to mention that they disrespected the name Carl…
Anyone else think this was a prank from the Episode team the first time they saw it?
At this point, I’m not even surprised. The story description was the closest I will ever get to reading it. Episode needs to stop making smut stories and write quality ones.
No thank you!
Well I thought the thread was a prank. Like trying to convince everyone that there was a new story… Until I realised @EliseC would never do something so cruel
I admire the wishful thinking! But nope, Episode actually did release this story!
First were the “Bad boy…” stories, then “It starts with a bra”, now is just straight up “In my bed” (with 3 exclamation points).
Subtlety is all out of the window now.
Here’s how I see it. They know this is bad and they are aware of the complaints about these kind of stories, I would even go so far as to say even they find the amount of stories like these popping up is ridiculous. BUT, they keep finding their way to the top trending and Episode look at the statistics and see that this is what sells, so they choose to cater to what their main demographic is into. (“My teacher, my gangster” for example, the dude is her teacher who is also in a gang. I mean if he turn out to be her stepbrother too then we got a Bingo up in here.)
Those memes they keep posting were with the intention of “We’re doing this to show you that we know about your complaints, we’re in on the joke to stay in your good grace.” With the lack of subtlety of each recent official stories and the getting straight to the “good” stuff, it is absolutely obvious now. On their side, I do think Episode treats it as a joke, but it’s in poor taste. The only ones who is laughing are people who find this situation is getting so sad, it’s funny.
I have it as well. This is serious. I mean someone seriously lost their mind.
I was in total shock when I saw this a new low what’s next pregnant by a super sexy gang leader.
When I first started reading episode the feature stories where decent a bit cliche but none the less.
Wtf has happened to episode just these cheap nasty stories weren’t we promised last year about diversity in stories? What happened to that seriously now it’s just shallow stories with horrible storytelling.
Someone at episode please tell us who is now in charge that chooses these disgusting stories and go back to some quality.
CAN WE PLEASE TALK ABOUT THE FACT THAT THE STORY IS IN SPOTLIGHT?! Like what are they DOING?
Thats what I be saying so much hypocrisy!
This has even gone past “pregnant with the gang leader”… so so sad. It’s not even an overused cliche, but this story is downright terrible. I don’t really mind overused cliches. But this story is perhaps the most awful thing I’ve ever read in terms of storyline, writing dialogue, and even directing.
Not only is the whole premise of the story just awful, but the writing is also flat AF.
