Hi! I’m a new writer! I’ve written drafts before but with very limited coding. I want to be able to have my characters do stuff like run etc. Does anyone have any advice on making coding easier? It would be much appreciated.

Hi! I’ve been reading Episode for quite a few years now, but I started writing in August '20! Here’s some tips for coding:
- Spot directing is very very helpful, especially if you want your character, overlays, and speechbubbles to move to a specific spot. It’ll take a bit to get used to it, but it really helps instead of writing random numbers when you want your character to do an animation while moving,
- The coding for running is “@CHARACTER walks to x y and CHARACTER does it while (run animation)” or… “@CHARACTER exits left/right and CHARACTER does it while (run animation)”

I started off watching all of Joseph Evans’ YouTube videos, just like many others. Episode Notes also has great videos. For writing advice, I would go to Bronte’s YouTube channel. Coding will take a long time to get the hang of; there is nothing that can make it easier other than practicing. There really is no shortcut.

Thanks ! I will keep writing and practicing . Hopefully one day I can get to be a expert coder. It is really inspiring watching others make their stories come to life on episode! I’m currently writing right now almost done with the first episode!

That’s really good, I’ve been working on my first story for a while and I’m completely stuck 
I definitely feel you on that one ! I had planned to do another story last summer. Started writing and idk what happened lol ! I found this story last week and the writer really inspired me. So I started writing a new story! When I feel unmotivated I take a break and read something and that motivates me again. Find your Zen and channel it into you writing. Some music that gets me going is Aventura. Its so relaxing to me and helps me clear my mind!
